As the former owner of Four Wind Farm in Warren, Maine, local food and endangered livestock breeds have always been a passion of mine. Unfortunately, life and health got in the way for awhile, and I had to give up the Farm.
Now though, we are back and better than ever! The Husband and I have purchase a new home this last spring with about five acres to start. In record time, fencing is up, the barn is full of hay and the animals have arrived!
Our pride and joy so far has been the acquisition of five, extremely rare, San Clemente Island Goats. They were transported in from all over the country, including one doe who was brought all the way from California! You will hear lots more about this breed in the future, but needless to say we are very excited!
We have lots of of projects still in the works - starting with a new, winter pasture that we plan to have done before snow flies. We may not have kids yet next spring (the girls are a little young yet) but we will certainly have plenty of geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits and eggs available!
We plan to have posts all winter, but will not have product or visiting hours until the weather gets a little warmer. We welcome your questions and comments all though the snowy season though, and we will see you in the spring!
