The pond froze over last night and stayed frozen all day today. We had expected this to be a more gradual process, so hadn't considered how the geese and ducks would react.
This morning, when let out, they did their customary fly over over the pond, landed and skated about 15 feet before come to an unceremonious stop. The geese were a big more cautious but still...
The geese quickly decided they wanted none of this and spent most of the day honking angrily around the edge, demanding to put brought up to the winter housing. The ducks...well... the ducks didn't really learn....
